One code for the checkout and the customer
The GS1 QR Code – also called a Digital Link QR – carries a Digital Link: an ordinary URL with GTIN, batch and serial as its path. A checkout scanner extracts the GTIN, a phone opens the same address as a web page – the route to the Digital Product Passport.
You do not need your own domain: GS1 allows arbitrary path segments before the application identifiers, so your company domain plus /gs1 is enough. The primary key – usually the GTIN (01) – is mandatory; without it the URL cannot be evaluated by any checkout system.
