Design & Layout

Visual label designer with real printer intelligence: native ZPL, Unicode printer fonts, SVG icon fonts, RFID elements, converters and 30+ symbologies - previewed exactly as the printer prints.

Label Designer

A visual canvas with real printer intelligence

Design on a millimetre ruler with grid, snapping and zoom up to 300 %. Add text, barcodes, QR codes, GRF images, SVG icons, RFID tags and shapes - then push the exact same ZPL to your printer.

  • ZPL modes - native printer fonts (^A…^FD), TrueType via ^GFA images, or literal ^A@@ / ^FB.

  • RFID element - EPC Class 1 Gen 2 tag with SGTIN-96 data structure; GTIN + serial → EPC hex encoder with decode roundtrip.

  • Data binding - bind fields to CSV / JSON columns via $field and test with a built-in JSON record editor.

  • Templates & teams - gallery with search and tag filter (adresse, artikel, chemie, preis, versand), 60-step undo/redo, groups, lock & hide, auto-save to localStorage.

  • Unicode fonts - own OFL font ZPLCloud (CJK, kana, Hangul, Vietnamese, Russian Cyrillic), Liberation Sans (Latin Extended, Greek, Cyrillic) and Droid fallback; TTF fonts are pushed to the printer as E:ZPLCLOUD.TTF.

Unicode printer fonts

Every script on the label - Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Cyrillic

Resident Zebra fonts stop at Latin-1. zplCloud ships its own Unicode font ZPLCloud (SIL OFL 1.1, derived from Noto Sans CJK and converted to TrueType for ZPL): 41,000+ code points - Latin-1, Vietnamese, Russian Cyrillic, basic Greek, all CJK ideographs, kana and Hangul - rendered server-side in the preview and pushed to the printer as E:ZPLCLOUD.TTF. The printer prints exactly what you saw.

  • One line of ZPL: ^A@N,60,60,E:ZPLCLOUD.TTF^FD日本語^FS with ^CI28 (UTF-8)
  • One font for all languages: ZPLCLOUD.TTF incl. 11,172 Hangul syllables - a single file, a single upload
  • Push once: the Printer Fonts tab uploads the TTF to selected printers - per fleet or per profile; Liberation Sans (OFL) adds Latin Extended, accented Greek and full Cyrillic
Every script on the label - Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Cyrillic
Rendered by the zplCloud engine with E:ZPLCLOUD.TTF - 812 × 406 dots, 203 dpi.

ZPL

Full ZPL freedom

We can do it all: fonts and graphics stored right on the printer, keeping payloads small. Everything is provisionable and manageable on your printers via our management tools - also per profile.

Anyone can send bulky PNG or PDF images with huge payloads to the printer. We can do that too - but we can also deliver performance when it comes to unique mass labels (e.g. RFID) that need to fly out of the printer.

SVG → TTF

Logos & icons as printer fonts

Mass bulk without the payload wall. Your logo and icons become one tiny TrueType font on the printer: upload the SVGs, we generate the TTF, push it once to exactly the printers you want - done. From then on every label carries a single glyph reference instead of kilobytes of graphics.

Your icon set, managed in zplCloud

  1. 1

    Upload SVGs

Drop in your logo and icons - or build a new letter logo from a single letter.

  2. 2

    We generate the font

Each icon becomes a glyph on a private Unicode code point (U+E000…). 3 glyphs ≈ 3 KB.

  3. 3

    Update the printers - done

One click pushes the font to exactly the printers you select - per fleet or per profile. Every label that follows just works.

  • 85× smaller - a 3 KB font uploaded once instead of ≈ 10.3 KB of graphics data in every single label
  • Built for mass bulk - 10,000 labels: ≈ 101 MB of GF data vs. ≈ 1.2 MB of text payload
  • Always current - icon changed? Update one font file, every label uses the new version immediately
  • Crisp & fast - vector outlines at any DPI (203 / 300 / 600), printed at text speed

RFID / EPC

Item-level RFID, ready for production

Write RFID transponders straight from the designer: data format, memory bank, starting block and byte count, plus passwords and locks. EPC schemes such as SGTIN-96 are built from GTIN and serial number, ASCII and HEX work just as well - on ZPL and Fingerprint printers.

Only available for ZPL & Fingerprint printers.

Tag types & data formats

Eleven tag types from EPC Class 1 Gen 2 to ISO 18000-6B, written as ASCII, HEX or EPC - your choice ends up as ^RS and ^RFW in the ZPL.

EPC encoder in the designer

Build SGTIN-96 and friends from GTIN plus serial number and decode them again - no external tool, no guesswork.

Memory bank, block, bytes

Write into EPC, TID, user or reserved memory with a starting block and byte count - exactly what the transponder expects.

Passwords & locks

Set access and kill passwords, lock, unlock or protect banks and permanently lock memory sections (^RLM / ^RLB).

Data bindings & batch

Bind tag data to CSV or JSON columns like any other field - thousands of RFID labels in a single batch run.

ZPL & Fingerprint printers

RFID items render natively on ZPL and Fingerprint devices - no extra hardware, no middleware.

GS1 Application Identifiers (AI)

One data set, four GS1 codes

A GS1 code is not a symbology of its own – it is an agreement about the content. The same application identifiers – GTIN, batch, serial, date, weight – sit in GS1-128, GS1 DataMatrix, GS1 QR and GS1 DataBar, only packed differently. zplCloud keeps them as a list and handles the packing for you.

  • AI editor in the designer: pick the identifier, enter the value – length, character set, date and check digit are validated as you type.
  • Separators handled: after variable-length elements, never after the last one – exactly the mistake that breaks GS1 codes in practice.
  • Values from your data source: every identifier bound to its own column, from CSV, Excel, SQL or a stream.
  • Wizard: from the use case to a finished code – product passport, logistics label, pharmaceuticals or fresh food.

Digital Product Passport (DPP)

The EU Ecodesign Regulation introduces the product passport product group by product group, textiles first. Its data carrier is a GS1 QR Code with Digital Link – also called a Digital Link QR: an ordinary URL from which the checkout reads the GTIN and a phone opens a web page. No own domain needed – your company domain plus the /gs1 subpath is enough.
